Special seminar by Dr. Rohit Jangra on role of host factors on Hantavirus entry. Dr. Rohit is a Postdoctoral researcher at Department of Microbiology & Immunology, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY.
Abstract :
Being parasites at a genetic level, viruses are masters of hijacking host factors for their own benefit. This talk was focussed on ways to identify novel host factors required for virus entry/infection, understanding their mechanism of action and their potential usage as targets of antiviral therapy. Major focus of the talk was on host factor usage for hantavirus entry along with a brief mention of host factor usage by hepatitis C virus, miRNA-mediated attenuation of influenza virus & neutralizing antibodies against filoviruses.
