My current research focus is to understand the roles that various enzymes (bacterial and mammalian) and biomolecules (especially RNA) play in physiological and pathological processes and use this knowledge to identify small molecule therapeutics for targeting human disease. To achieve these goals, our group develops and applies new technologies at the interface of chemistry and biology, ascribing to the philosophy that the most significant biomedical problems require creative multidisciplinary approaches for their solution. In particular, utilize a multidisciplinary approach to explore mechanisms of disease pathology and identify chemical probes and lead molecules for both disease diagnosis and treatment. with particular emphasis on the development of small molecules therapeutics for tuberculosis, epigenetic proteins, and RNA related diseases.
